Blog 4 - Education
Hi everyone, today I will talk about vocational choice, my own experience and advice that I think might be helpful.
Well, to be honest, I had a hard time choosing the career I wanted to study, especially because my option when I graduated was just studying at the university. I say this because I believe that there are more things that can be done in life besides studying and having a degree, but I will talk about this later.
Since I was very little I have gone through many career and profession options, but the one that always was a possibility, was veterinarian, because I always loved animals and also I planned to have my own farm or animal hotel. Other professions, that were a possibility at one point, were being a visual artist and an actress.
Then, when I grew up, my career options were three. Design, theater and architecture. The first that I discarded was theater, because I didn't feel very connected to the career and in a country like Chile, live from art, it's very difficult. So, the real dilemma was design or architecture. After so much time, asking people about what they thought and analyze the dilemma, I decided go with architecture. To be honest, my main motive, was the laboral field, but also I considered what I hear from a classmate that actually it's also studying architecture in Universidad de Chile, she said that architecture has all the subjects that I like the most at school, maths, history and art. So, architecture was my final choice.
As my reasons for choosing this career were not very specific, I had many if I was really going to like it and I was going to feel connected to this profession. Luckily for me, I could say that I hit him with this career, because so far he has had everything that I like to do and I have been able to learn from a world that I did'nt know before and that now seems fascinating to me. And even though I am not yet totally familiar with it, I really want to continue learning about this profession and be able to see the world through another look.
So that was my experience, but I must say that I was quite lucky and there are many people who do not feel connected with the career they chose in the beginning, that is why I think that one should take all the time necessary to get to know each other and really know what you want to do in life, sometimes over time you can realize things that you like that you did not know before or did not even imagine, or maybe it is not even your thing to study but eventually you will find something in which you feel comfortable and happy to do.
I think that the older generations still do not understand this and they think that everything in life is solved thanks to a professional degree, but not everything in life is achieved with this. There are many successful people in the world who did not study a degree or do not have a degree. I think it's more about skills than certifications. if you are good at something and have a passion for it, you will always do well in life:)
So that was the blog of the week, see you in the next blog;)
