Blog 2- Healthcare System

Hi guys, today I will talk about the Healthcare System and Mental Health in Chile.

As a Chilean society we are used to paying for everything and above all having to pay for things that should be a minimum right of each individual, such as education and health, among others. In Chile there is a huge difference between the public and private health systems, and I think that this should not be the case, the government should guarantee a free quality health system that meets the minimum needs of the people. In addition to the lack of support from the state for covering a large part of physical illnesses, there is a lack of policies and programs corresponding to mental health. It is proven that in Chile a very low percentage of the health budget is allocated to mental health (about 5%) and this is something that is not consistent with the number of cases of people suffering from a mental illness. Therefore, it is very important that the Chilean government can take charge of the public health problem and pay more attention to people's mental health, since it is an issue as important as any other disease.

So that was the blog of this week, See you in the next blog;)

  1. You are right, the government has to invest more in mental health as it is not taken much into account when it is vital for people, greeting!

I totally agree. There is no investment in mental health and the health of Chileans is completely damaged by an unjust and unworthy exploitative system for those who do not have resources.
